Work Details Day Shift, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Telework is eligible for applicants residing in Minnesota or a bordering state with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance. Applicants from a bordering state must live within 50 miles of the primary work location.

Responsibilities

Contact parties involved in administrative hearings to gather information or respond to inquiries.

Consult with human services judges to schedule and reschedule evidentiary hearings.

Draft legal documents.

Prepare appeal files for hearing.

Assist human services judges with case management throughout the appeals process.

Support implementation of an online appeals management system.

Create metric reports and participate in special projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of formal paralegal or legal assistant coursework from an accredited program resulting in a certificate, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or post-bachelor’s degree.

One (1) year’s experience as a paralegal, legal secretary, or legal assistant in a legal setting.

Two (2) years of experience working with administrative hearings and administrative hearing law procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of legal requirements for fair hearings, administrative law procedures, and the administrative fair hearing process.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Proficient computer skills in Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.

Knowledge/experience with MAXIS, MMIS, or Minnesota Eligibility Technology System (METS).

Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
