The Cisco Network Engineer (Information Technologist IV) is part of a dynamic team that delivers Information Technology, Digital Training, and Logistics, including private networks used to conduct training and support for our DoD Customer. The successful candidate shall provide configuration, installation, commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting of private networks, which include a CISCO core switch, CISCO node switches, and CISCO distribution switches.
Job Responsibilities: Provide support for day-to-day operation, installation, configuration, and administration of networking environments.
Configure routing, switching, troubleshoot, and support Cisco Switch configurations, changes, OS upgrades, cabling, and fiber interconnects.
Conduct inventories, perform daily maintenance, and document all actions taken.
Configure network hardware and software prior to installation.
Update documentation for all newly provisioned circuits, devices, and software in accordance with configuration management guidelines.
Install and modify network cabling.
Support network security, firewalls, routers, VLAN creation, and switching protocols.
Design new networks and assess requirements to recommend solutions to the COR.
Develop backup strategies and recovery plans for network data.
Perform network analysis, planning, and testing as needed.
Physically relocate switches and related equipment to designated locations, ensuring data connection integrity.
Replace network switches and equipment, including disassembly, testing, configuration backup, and reinstallation.
Build or rebuild network racks and server room shelving.
Maintain the non-NIPR network, including cabling and infrastructure connectivity.
Qualifications: Active Secret clearance; US Citizen.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or five (5) years of relevant experience.
Appropriate Computing Environment (CE) certification per DoD Directive 8570.01-M (Security+).
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification required, along with IA training and workforce management.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting medium-sized Cisco networks and other vendor switches.
