Seeking a project Cost/Buyout Manager to provide Owner Representation for a data center owner/developer. This role is
hybrid remote with occasional travel (bi-weekly travel to data center sites for 2-3 days at a time).
This role will supplement our existing Cost Management team which operates on data center construction sites in multiple states. This individual will manage scopes on data center builds at one or more of these data center sites:
Charlotte, NC
Bay Area, CA
Salem, PA
Madison, WI
Augusta, GA
Chicago, IL
Salt Lake City, UT
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience in cost management for construction projects, preferably in data centers or critical facilities.
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
Proficient in communication to convey information effectively.
Ability to analyze and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Skilled in using cost management software (e.g., Procore), Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and project management tools.
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Ability to perform cost analysis, risk assessment, and value engineering.
Proven leadership and team management abilities.
Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with local and national codes, industry standards, and best practices.
Ability to visit job sites, including navigating stairs or elevated structures.
Ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in cost estimation and reporting.
Duty and Responsibilities
The Cost Control Manager is responsible for managing project budgets, ensuring financial accuracy, and optimizing cost efficiency.
This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including cost consultants, project management teams, and vendors, to drive process efficiency and maintain financial integrity across projects.
Oversee budget reconciliation, vendor budget reallocation, and project budget corrections.
Facilitate cost touchpoints and communication with cost consultants and CM cost managers.
Oversee contract administration, tracking, and reporting.
Manage subcontractor spend, financial validations, and forecast projected expenditures.
Drive process efficiency and software proficiency within the team.
Oversee change management, allowance, and buyout tracking.
Develop and implement cost control strategies to ensure project financial goals are met.
Monitor and report on project financial performance and variances.
Conduct regular financial audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
Coordinate with procurement teams to manage cost-effective purchasing and vendor negotiations.
Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and payment processing for subcontractors and vendors.
Manage risk assessment and mitigation strategies related to project costs.
Support the development and maintenance of financial models and forecasting tools.
Train and mentor team members on cost control best practices and software tools.
