Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR Inspections
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The role is based in Reno, NV and FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5‑6 minutes.
Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take more than 9 photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the mobile app.
Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can expect an equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour . Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Earnings increase as you become established, increase your availability, or expand your territory. No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
