MFG (Market Fresh Gourmet) is a growing multi‑concept restaurant group with 4 restaurant concepts located in Mishawaka, Indiana: Corndance Tavern, Bourbon & Butcher, Evil Czech Brewery, and Jesús Latin Grill & Tequila Bar.
Our in‑house butcher shop provides locally sourced meats while our commissary kitchen produces house‑made products for each of our restaurant locations.
Our private event space, Carnegie Library Special Events, seats up to 175 guests in the upper level of Jesús.
We are looking for an experienced Prep Cook to join our team. You will prepare and cook a variety of dishes for restaurant guests while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
You are passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences through quality food. With previous experience as a prep cook, you can manage multiple priorities and contribute to a friendly, productive team atmosphere. Ideally, you have your ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification.
You also have an attention to detail, solid knife technique, and can manage multiple prep projects at one time. You excel at keeping an organized and clean walk‑in and are committed to ensuring that your co‑workers do the same. You take seriously the responsibility of tracking waste and communicate with your managers when something in the waste log is of concern.
Responsibilities
Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food‑handling practices.
Ensure freshness of food and ingredients through effective rotation and labeling of products in the walk‑in.
Taste, taste, taste. Ensure all prep is cooked and seasoned correctly.
Respond to guest feedback with appropriate urgency and professionalism.
Communicate with the incoming shift as to what prep items need to be completed/prioritized.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a prep cook preferred.
Teachable.
ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification (or willingness to attain).
Ability to lift 30+ lbs.
Ability to work standing for 8+ hours.
Compensation: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
MFG Employee Benefits Employee Meal Discounts: All employees receive a 35% discount at all MFG locations (excluding private events) for the entire check (must be on one check). Alcohol is always at full price.
Health, Dental, and Vision insurance after 60 days of employment.
PTO: 5 paid days per year (may be used as 7-9 days in a row). Each year of employment gains 1 PTO day. Hourly full‑time employees (over 30 hours) are eligible for 1 week of paid vacation after 24 months of employment. (Pay based on average weekly hours)
Holiday Pay: We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Independence Day, Superbowl Sunday, and sometimes New Year’s Day. These days are paid holidays for all salaried employees.
401(k) & Match: Employees are eligible to contribute after 12 months of employment. We offer up to a 5% match of your salary.
