Overview
We are looking for an experienced
Low Voltage
Construction Superintendent (LV Super)
to join our team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD. The LV Superintendent will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to our quality standards. Responsibilities
Safety compliance and ensuring job safety is properly incorporated into job planning and execution. Supervising craft workers and coordinating subcontractors; scheduling, material handling, daily reporting, quality control, and craft training. Coordinate and supervise all Company work forces on the project, including employment of laborers and craft persons; hire and fire authority for hourly personnel under supervision; indoctrination of Foremen and accountability. Develop and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Coordinators, Engineers, Foremen, and craft personnel; conduct personnel evaluations and participate in salary staffing decisions as needed. Develop pre-job plans, material handling and site utilization plans; manage project schedules to align with job planning. Maintain accurate timekeeping and cost records; monitor labor usage and costs to bring projects back within budget. Expedite vendors and subcontractors; manage subcontractor coordination and weekly scheduling meetings with Foremen. Material receiving: ensure proper inspection of quantity and quality and proper signing/coding of receiving tickets. Owner relations: participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings and communicate schedule changes or potential conflicts to the Project Manager and Owner Representatives. Be sensitive to customer or neighborhood requirements to maintain satisfactory relations; maintain project logs. Safety, quality, and procedural standards for construction and facility systems, including low-voltage building systems and related installations. Position Qualifications
7+ years in a construction-related field with staff leadership and management experience. Experience managing or overseeing installation of low-voltage building systems; electrical/low-voltage systems experience (3 to 7 years). Communications systems installation supervision; outside/inside plant cabling installation supervision; structured cabling systems installation supervision. Experience includes:
Security systems integrator Audio-visual systems integrator Communication system integrator
Ability to function as part of a high-performance team. Strong knowledge of construction methods, facilities operations, and building systems. Familiarity with strategic planning; ability to work collaboratively in a mobile work environment. Software proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and report writing applications; strong verbal and written communication skills. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications
Professional accreditations, including DBIA, LEED, etc. Ideal candidates possess: PMP or BICSI - RTPM (Certified Technology Project Manager). Other desirable credentials: BICSI Certified Cable Installer, RCDD (Registered Designer); OSHA 10/30. Essential Duties
The LV Superintendent is responsible for the safe completion of projects within budget, on schedule, to quality standards, and to customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include safety compliance, craft supervision, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, material handling, daily reports, quality control, and craft training. Duties may vary to support the project team. Safety: ensure safety is incorporated into planning and execution; enforce safety policies among staff and subcontractors. Quality: oversee all quality control for company and subcontractors. Job planning and scheduling: develop and adjust pre-job plans; participate in scheduling to align with plans. Mobilization: complete tasks as assigned in pre-job planning. Coordination of Company work forces and subcontractors; personnel management of hourly staff and indoctrination of Foremen. Develop and manage project team members; assist in staff assignments and provide feedback/evaluations. Maintain forms, documentation, and construction methods for efficiency. Maintain accurate timekeeping and cost records; monitor costs to stay within budget. Regulate procurement pace with vendors and subcontractors; maintain owner relations and communicate schedule changes. Assist in maintaining project logs and addressing customer/community requirements. Physical Work Classification & Demands
Heavy exertion: up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds constantly. Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity; reading blueprints and field measurements. Climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and handling materials; occasional computer use and office tasks. Visual acuity; ability to operate a vehicle as appropriate; exposure to varying temperatures and outdoor elements. Benefits
