Bilingual Immigration Legal Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant for our Puerto Rico office. The ideal candidate will possess phone etiquette, customer service experience, strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This role requires familiarity with legal terminology, document management systems, and project management to assist in various legal processes, including immigration application support. Experience in Immigration Law a plus.
Responsibilities
Assist paralegals with case preparation.
Work side by side with team in Las Vegas office.
Manage legal documents through case management software like Docketwise.
Draft, review and proofread legal documents including applications for USCIS, motions for immigration Court, affidavits, and correspondence.
Conduct client interviews in both English and Spanish.
Organize files and calendar.
Complete applications for USCIS, EOIR and NVC.
Experience writing waivers or argumentative motions a plus.
Receive incoming calls and pre‑screen potential clients.
Contact potential clients for consultation.
Gather information from potential clients for consultations.
Create leads in office software from incoming calls and inquiries with relevant case information.
Communicate with existing clients.
Document collection.
Schedule consultations with attorney.
Assist with translations and immigration applications.
Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings by organizing case files and evidence.
Scan mail and incoming documents, manage and maintain document management systems, ensuring all legal documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
Coordinate schedules, appointments, and meetings for attorneys, ensuring effective time management.
Support project management efforts by tracking deadlines and deliverables associated with ongoing cases.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while adhering to ethical standards in the legal profession.
Requirements
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
2+ years experience in legal field.
At least 1 year experience in Immigration a plus.
Proven experience as a Receptionist or Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative role within a law office setting.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Familiarity with document management systems such as Docketwise preferred.
Excellent proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients, attorneys, and court and agency personnel.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Familiar and experience with Immigration applications and preparation including experience with USCIS, EOIR and NVC are a plus.
