Job Overview As a key member of the Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pre-Employment Specialist to conduct comprehensive background checks and screening procedures on potential job candidates. In this role, you will ensure a thorough and compliant hiring process by evaluating candidates' qualifications, criminal records, employment history, education credentials, and other relevant information. Your expertise will assist in making informed hiring decisions and contribute to building a qualified workforce.

Day In The Life Every day is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:

Conducting comprehensive background checks on job candidates including but not limited to criminal history reviews, employment and education verification and drug testing.

Performing thorough screening procedures to evaluate qualifications, criminal records, and employment history.

Using screening tools and databases to gather relevant information.

Serving as primary contact for candidates related to pre-employment.

Providing guidance and determinations on candidate selection based on screening results.

Maintaining open and effective communication with candidates throughout the screening process.

Communicating screening results to stakeholders in a timely manner.

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of screening activities.

Preparing timely reports on background check results for appropriate stakeholders.

Ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality regulations.

Completing all required internal audits timely.

Staying updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to pre-employment screening.

Ensuring all screening activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Implementing and upholding ethical standards and professional practices in pre-employment screening.

Ensuring adherence to OSHA, EEOC, FCRA, and other regulations.

Looking for ways to continuously improve the pre-employment screening process.

Identifying opportunities to streamline and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of screening procedures.

Tracking screening metrics (turnaround time, pass rates, etc.), identifying trends or bottlenecks, and implementing initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce turnover.

Partnering with recruitment, HR, and management to align candidate screening with role requirements, emphasizing safety, technical aptitude, and soft skills.

Managing the day-to-day relationship with the pre-employment vendor.

Qualifications Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field ideal; combination of education and applicable experience also acceptable.

Experience:

3+ years in pre-employment screening or HR, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.

Skills:

Familiarity with background check processes, drug testing, safety compliance regulations (OSHA, FCRA, EEOC). Skilled in administering and completing an individualized assessment on all background checks. Proficient in HRIS/ATS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; First Advantage/Sterling experience preferred.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to multitask effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive, candidate-centered mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in HR compliance and background screening.
