Role Overview The Pre-Employment Specialist supports a high-volume, compliant hiring process within the Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence. This role focuses on conducting background checks and screenings to ensure candidates meet hiring, safety, and regulatory requirements. The position helps reduce hiring risk, improve retention, and support a safe, reliable workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct background checks including criminal history, employment verification, education verification, and drug testing.

Perform detailed pre-employment screenings to confirm candidate eligibility.

Use screening tools and databases to gather and evaluate candidate information.

Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates during the screening process.

Communicate screening requirements, status updates, and results clearly and timely.

Provide screening determinations and guidance to hiring managers and stakeholders.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date screening records and documentation.

Prepare reports related to background check results and screening activity.

Ensure compliance with data privacy, confidentiality, and audit standards.

Stay current on federal, state, and local pre-employment screening laws.

Ensure adherence to OSHA, EEOC, FCRA, and related regulations.

Uphold ethical and professional standards in all screening activities.

Identify opportunities to improve screening efficiency and processes.Track and analyze screening metrics such as turnaround time and pass rates.

Partner with recruiting, HR, and hiring managers to align screening with job requirements.

Manage daily communication and coordination with the background screening vendor.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

3+ years of experience in pre-employment screening or HR, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.

Experience reviewing background checks and making eligibility determinations.

Experience conducting individualized assessments.

Knowledge of background check processes, drug testing, and safety compliance requirements.

Strong attention to detail with consistent and sound decision-making skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage high-volume workloads efficiently.

Proficiency with HRIS/ATS systems and Microsoft Office; First Advantage or Sterling experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

HR compliance or background screening certification.
