Senior Account Clerk

Perform a variety of duties associated with the acceptance and collection of property tax payments according to established procedures and Idaho State Statutes. Assist with collecting taxes for 40 taxing districts which includes accurately posting payments in person, over the phone and via mail while balancing daily batches. Must accurately and timely balance daily deposits and auditor certificate deposits for multiple county departments. Position is responsible for making all daily deposits for incoming revenue to the county which will involve multiple bank accounts including Treasurer, Tax Collector, Tax Anticipation & Suspense. Support the office with any other clerical or general support needed including public administration. Providing customer service to taxpayers in person, over the phone and via email to answer tax related question, estimating future taxes, take payments (in all forms- cash, check or by credit card) or provide any other information they may need. Handles all cash that is taken in the Tax Collectors office, by balancing all batches and making daily deposits for Tax Collector. Will also balance Tax Anticipation drawer and create deposits as needed. Verify and post all Auditors Certificates from various county departments in Munis, and create daily deposits for various accounts including, Treasurer and Suspense. Handles all NSF or returned bank transactions. Issues warrants of distraint per Idaho Code for delinquent personal property including mobile homes, state leases, business personal property, leased real property, transient personal property. Make phone calls to those taxpayers as needed to collect taxes owing. Work with Sheriffs Office in the collection process as needed. In preparation of the annual tax drive coordinate with Idaho Department of Lands to upload the fire protection fees to those parcels identified in their file. Accurately balance back to their records and make changes with adds and deletes for accuracy. Work with IDL staff for discrepancies or changes as needed. Upload Priest Lake Translator District fees adding the appropriate fee to the correct parcels for the Translator fee. Create and mail yield tax bills based on the reports received from the Assessors office. Create and send UADWeb usage invoices to title companies. Apply penalty and interest to delinquent parcels as needed Assist with Public Administration responsibilities as needed. Includes taking inventory, organizing assets, and cleaning. Help with third year delinquent files as needed Help with tax drive prep as needed Perform all other duties as assigned Sufficient combination of knowledge, skills and abilities to competently perform the essential functions of the job. High School diploma or equivalent required. Post high school education in accounting or bookkeeping preferred Strong cash handling skills Good understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping Current valid drivers license Ability to type accurately at 50 WPM or higher Ability to proficiently use a 10 key calculator Strong multi-tasking skills with numerous interruptions Strong communication skills Ability to work well with others in office and throughout other departments of the County Physical Environment: 90% Office Work mainly performed at personal desk: able to sit or stand as desire During tax drive (2x per year 2 months each, frequently on feet for long periods, up to 8 hours.
