We have a mission that matters!**Description of Work**This position is located at Johnston Correctional Facility in Smithfield NC. Positions in this class perform the full range of journey work duties associated with the construction, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning systems and associated air handling, chilled water distribution, and control mechanisms. In addition, positions maintain refrigeration units and their control systems.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences*****This is a REPOST - Previous applicants MUST REAPPLY to be considered.*****Salary Range: $34,270 - $47,121**Working knowledge of refrigeration theory. Working knowledge of operating (BAU) building automation systems. Working knowledge of troubleshooting of electricity sufficient to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical control systems.This candidate for this Maintenance HVAC Technician (HVAC Mechanic I) position, shall have experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, equipment, and machinery; be able to work independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor; read and interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences:**Demonstrated experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, including but not limited to chillers, air handlers, pumps, ventilators, fans, boilers, piping, mini splits, etc**.****Note to Current State Employees:**State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.
If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.**Minimum Education and Experience**Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
