About The Farm
We are a small family farm in Mebane, Orange County NC operating since 2014. We have an intensive 1 acre market garden growing produce and cut flowers, a 1 acre orchard growing mostly figs, pawpaws, and blueberries, and we raise chickens, ducks, and turkeys for meat. All of our poultry processing is done on farm. All of our produce and flowers are grown following sustainable practices without the use of synthetic chemicals. We sell at the Carrboro and South Durham Farmers’ Market, local restaurants, and wholesale flowers. Our farm is just 15 minutes from Hillsborough, 20-30 minutes from Durham, and 20 minutes from Graham.
Job Description We are looking for
THREE part time Seasonal employees to work around 22-30 hours each week.
Mondays are mandatory while the other days can be flexible. Weekly scheduling options are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 8am-3:30pm and/or Fridays 8am-5pm. We include a paid 30 minute lunch break.
Garden bed preparation, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, and trellising.
Washing and packing all produce from the garden efficiently and with care.
Bunching and wrapping cut flowers efficiently and with care.
Assist in on-farm poultry processing. Processing dates are always scheduled on Mondays. We process about once a month. Typically, the duties include plucking, packaging, and clean up. Our experienced crew members do the dispatch, evisceration, and butchering.
Cleaning and organizing the greenhouse, tool shed, wash station, etc.
Start & End Date:
March 2026 – December 2026 (with the potential to become year round)
Qualifications
A minimum of one year experience in outdoor, physically demanding roles is preferred (such as market gardening, landscaping, or construction).
Must be ok with poultry processing. Participation is mandatory for this position.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds easily.
This job can be physically demanding, requiring long periods of standing, squatting and bending.
Able to work outside in all types of weather. Proper attire and lots of water are important.
Thorough with a sense of urgency. Cannot stress enough the importance of this.
Must follow instructions and execute tasks following a demonstration.
Compensation:
Starting at $17/hour, based on ability & experience. Benefits include produce, flowers, meat to go home with when available, and paid 30 minute lunch. Also, on the job training of how to grow produce, flowers, and process poultry. Employees who have been with us for at least one year are eligible for additional benefits.
