CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OPPORTUNITY AT LOS ALTOS GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB. Los Altos Golf & Country Club invites an accomplished and forward-thinking financial strategist to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO is a hands-on, strategic partner to the GM/COO, the Board of Directors, and the Finance and Long-Range Planning Committees. This role leads financial oversight, capital planning, and strategic forecasting, with a focus on modernization, data-driven insights, and transparent communication. The CFO will implement technology and automation to enhance reporting clarity, speed, and accuracy, support committee relations, and foster cross-department collaboration with a culture of transparency, responsiveness, and member service. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, approachable, and visionary leader who can balance mentoring staff, engaging with members, and leading high-level board discussions. Financial Strategy & Oversight
Formulate, recommend, and implement accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial control policies. Direct the preparation of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) with analytics. Lead annual operating and capital budgeting in coordination with department heads and committees. Analyze budget variances, forecast performance, and recommend corrective actions. Maintain all accounting functions (receivables, payables, payroll, reconciliations). Ensure GAAP compliance, tax regulations, and evolving financial standards. Manage internal audits and ensure adherence to club policies and regulatory expectations. Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings; ensure timely submissions. Safeguard assets through cash management, fund allocation, and investment oversight. Maintain complete fixed asset and depreciation records. Operational Leadership & Risk Management
Collaborate with the GM/COO and Facilities Director to keep Capital Reserve Study current and aligned with Board reports. Supervise member billing and collections; audit charges for accuracy. Oversee banking relationships, liquidity, and cash management. Manage insurance coverage for property, liability, and other risk exposures. Lead technology and accounting system implementations to enhance operations and reporting accuracy. Ensure internal controls, governance practices, and confidentiality standards. Monitor delinquent accounts and engage management/Board for resolution. Coordinate with external auditors to maintain transparency and policy consistency. Governance & Board Partnership
Serve as the principal financial advisor to the Board and key committees. Translate complex financial data into clear insights for Board decisions. Lead capital financing strategy; source and negotiate loan terms for strategic initiatives. Evaluate and manage funding for capital improvements, refinancing, and reserve planning. Develop financial reports and analyses for Board and committee presentations. Support long-range financial planning, debt management, and investment policies. Maintain banking relationships and secure favorable terms. Provide strategic thought partnership to the GM/COO and Board on fiscal implications of business decisions. Provide Board Secretary support when requested (minutes and actions). People Leadership & Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff; promote excellence and accountability. Foster cross-department communication for financial awareness and budget ownership. Advise department heads on financial matters to support operational success. Promote professionalism, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance team and across departments. Conduct performance reviews and establish metrics aligned with Club objectives. Success Criteria

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required; MBA preferred. 7–10 years of professional accounting experience, including at least two years at Controller or equivalent level; club, hospitality, or service industry preferred. CPA license preferred; CHAE designation recommended. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Expertise in accounting principles, budgeting, and financial analysis. Proficiency with financial systems and accounting software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage complex projects, timelines, and multiple priorities. Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences. Understand tax, insurance, and retirement plan management. Stay informed of changes in employment and financial regulations. Foster integrity, confidentiality, and continuous improvement.
