Associate Design Director Position Summary:
Join the AE Women's team and take part in the exciting design process from initial concepts to the final execution of products. As an Associate Designer, you will collaborate with our team in creating innovative denim apparel that meets our brand's standards. Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Designer to create category-specific products for American Eagle Women's team, following design directives. Develop a strong understanding of raw materials and trims related to women's denim. Use email and PLM for daily follow-up and project tracking. Build partnerships by interacting with merchants and vendors. Observe and prepare for presentation techniques, contributing to preliminary presentations. Handle daily operations and classification during the Designer's absence, including fit sessions. Conduct preliminary design research within the domestic market. Review lab dips, wash submissions, and finishes with supervisor approval. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. In-person collaboration is crucial, especially for product development milestones, fittings, and approvals, based on business needs. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience). 2-3 years of relevant apparel experience; wovens experience is a plus. Previous experience with AE or Aerie is beneficial; PLM experience required. Strong interpersonal and analytic skills to liaise across departments. Detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and capable of managing multiple tasks. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Excel, and PLM. Comfort with hybrid work environments, attending the office several times a week as business demands. Pay/Benefits Information: Starting pay is determined by experience and location.
