About The Role
G Adventures is searching for a passionate PR and communications expert to join our PR powerhouse. Overseeing all public relations in the U.S., this is a rare opportunity for a creative, connected and values-driven individual to join our community and share in our mission of changing lives through travel.

You will act as the regional expert for all elements of PR and communications across the United States. The location of the role is negotiable, with Boston, Toronto (Canada) or a US-based media hub being preferred. Working closely with both the global and regional teams, you will develop and implement the communications strategy for the US in line with the global vision, working with media, content creators and partners to amplify our message. The Communications Manager will be responsible for sharing the word of G in a strategic and impactful way.

Responsibilities

Write and distribute press releases, targeted pitches and other media materials to consumer and trade media, securing impactful coverage for G Adventures in target media

Work with key stakeholders to develop news-worthy pitches for media

Plan, organise and execute small and large-scale events in the region with the support of the regional and global teams

Build on G Adventures’ strong reputation as the leader in the adventure travel sector and the pioneer of community tourism. Work with Planterra, G Adventures’ non-profit partner, to highlight the human stories showing the impact of travel on local communities

Secure and support interviews, speaking opportunities and comment pieces for leaders across the business, including our founder, Bruce Poon Tip, Chief Executive Officer, Ben Perlo and VP of Growth Steve Lima

Continue to secure a strong bank of impactful media coverage in A-list titles across trade, consumer and broadcast

Scope, curate, and submit industry award entries to maintain consistent success

Manage all press trips from US media and content creators, helping them tell the story of G Adventures through first-hand travel experiences

Lead group press trips with media from across the US and beyond, where relevant

Maintain relationships with key partners including airlines, tourism boards and travel agents, keeping them updated on G Adventures news and opportunities to collaborate on media trips and editorial

Lead with service, managing all press office duties including timely responses to media requests, monitoring coverage and managing press lists

Work with the crisis and incident team to manage media responses to any crisis incidents

Reporting on communications from your region, providing tangible stats in line with the strategy to demonstrate successes and inform learnings

Supporting the Sales and Marketing teams in the US, participating in local consumer and trade events

Support larger business-wide projects and launches, where relevant

Coordinate with the leader and regional marketing teams to ensure all communications are streamlined for maximum impact

What We’re Looking For
With no two days the same at G Adventures, here is an overview of what we are looking for in the ideal candidate:

Passion for changing lives through travel and the ability to share that passion with media and content creators

Experience: at least 6 years in PR and communications, either in agency or in-house

Be our boots on the ground in the US, attending industry and media functions to grow and nurture strategic relationships

Ability to travel regionally and internationally

Develop and implement the US communications strategy, positioning us as a leader in adventure and responsible travel

Strong storytelling sense with connections in travel media, and ability to place stories for target audiences

Creative, ideas-driven, able to think beyond the standard and bring stories to market

Organised self-starter who can independently manage multiple projects

Connected networker with journalist contacts across trade, consumer, business, and broadcast

Experience developing partnerships with content creators and understanding KPIs and results tracking

Voice of authority for communications across the business, sharing insights to help growth

Team player, liaising with stakeholders globally

Strong understanding of digital PR and experience supporting digital/SEO/LLM strategies

Proven experience managing a diverse, busy communications strategy and campaigns that drive brand awareness and equity, with monitoring and reporting of successes

Experience in managing content creator campaigns across affiliates and multi-platform promotion

Proven track record of crafting and securing data-driven stories
