
Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the company to patients, supporting routine health needs and life-defining health decisions.
This role is responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures are performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with established practices.
The PSR II builds patient trust through clear communication, professionalism, and strong customer focus, while demonstrating leadership behaviors, process excellence, and sensitivity to confidentiality and data accuracy. Assignments may include a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Responsibilities
Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing in accordance with established procedures.
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.
Maintain required records and documentation accurately.
Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Requirement/Must Have
Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as required.
Commitment to company policies, procedures, dress code, and health and safety standards.
Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Strong customer focus with clear, professional communication skills and adaptability to change.
Experience
Three years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Minimum of two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
Keyboard and data entry experience required.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualification And Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred and required in certain states.
