Position Overview Portfolio Valuation Specialists support investment, operations, and finance teams by calculating and verifying the value of portfolios, ensuring accurate Net Asset Value (NAV) reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting and regulatory standards. The role blends quantitative analysis, portfolio monitoring, and financial reporting to provide timely and accurate portfolio valuations.
These roles often involve collaboration with portfolio managers, fund accountants, risk teams, and operations to ensure data integrity, support investment decisions, and provide transparent reporting to investors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Calculate and verify portfolio valuations and Net Asset Values (NAVs) across multiple asset classes
Analyze portfolio holdings, reconciliations, and market data to ensure accurate valuations
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly portfolio reports and dashboards for internal teams and investors
Validate portfolio and fund data, identifying and resolving discrepancies
Support P&L tracking, performance attribution, and risk exposure reporting as related to portfolio valuations
Maintain documentation of valuation methodologies and assumptions in line with regulatory and internal standards
Collaborate with operations, accounting, and technology teams to improve valuation processes and data integrity
Assist in ad-hoc analysis and requests from senior management or investors
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
Strong understanding of portfolio valuation methods, fund structures, and investment accounting
Experience or coursework in fund accounting, NAV calculation, or portfolio analytics (preferred but not required)
Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Python, R, SQL, or VBA is a plus
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder collaboration
Strong interest in portfolio valuation, investment reporting, and fund operations
