Overview
Respawn Entertainment is looking for a Senior Technical Designer to create and deliver engaging seasonal gameplay and live events for Apex Legends. Reporting to the Lead Technical Designer, you will work as part of a collaborative team of Technical Designers to ideate, prototype, and implement new gameplay experiences that evolve Apex Legends’ live service and delight players. This role requires strong technical design skills, hands-on ownership of features from concept to implementation, and a deep understanding of what Apex players enjoy. You will collaborate closely with design, engineering, art, and production partners, while also mentoring other designers and contributing to a culture of innovation and executional excellence. As a Senior Technical Designer, you will be a key contributor within a team of Technical Designers responsible for delivering live events and limited-time experiences that expand and evolve Apex’s gameplay. You will ideate, prototype, implement, and iterate on new gameplay concepts, working closely with design, engineering, art, and production partners to bring compelling ideas from concept to live service execution. A strong understanding of what Apex players enjoy—and the ability to translate those insights into fun, technically sound gameplay experiences—is essential as you help shape memorable events for one of the most iconic titles in gaming. Responsibilities
Collaborate with Designers, Engineers, and other creatives to develop the game vision and innovate on compelling seasonal content through novel gameplay mechanics Quickly prototype design ideas and iterate through playtesting and player feedback Align and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to develop gameplay features Participate in technical audits of design content and help enforce healthy scripting standards Ensure high quality releases through regular iteration, bug fixing, and tuning of features based on feedback from the game teams, user testing, and the broader player community Contribute to game design discussions and planning Create and manage documentation for new and evolving gameplay systems Qualifications
5+ years Technical Design experience, or show equivalent knowledge Strong collaboration skills and the ability to appreciate respectful feedback A clear understanding that teamwork is the key to success Fluency in text-based scripting or programming languages such as C++, C#, or JavaScript, among others Deep understanding of the Battle Royale genre and what makes moment-to-moment gameplay exciting to players Ability to communicate and articulate design requirements to other disciplines Experience developing within a Live Service environment is a plus Pay Transparency - North America

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs). British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$111,600 - $152,800 CAD California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) *$124,100 - $182,800 USD In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
