Minimum Requirements
- Experience: Five years experience as a Pharmacist in a hospital setting.
- Education: Graduate of Accredited School of Pharmacy
- Certifications: Current Pharmacist license in the State of Arizona.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience: Three years as a Supervisor.
Finance
- Responsible for budget preparation and adherence based on volume.
- Responsible for supply chain management for department needs.
- Monitor productivity/cost per unit of service on a regular basis to meet established budgetary guidelines; establish and implement action plans when variances occur.
- Plan work assignments and resource allocation with full consideration of timeliness and financial impact.
People
- Complete timely 30‑day stay interviews and 90‑day and annual evaluations.
- Hire, terminate, train, evaluate performance, and supervise staff to provide professional, courteous and timely services.
- Review turnover trends and develop action plans to address unanticipated variances.
- Promote employee engagement through staff participation in department operations and activities as measured through employee engagement tools.
- Appropriately manage staff to ensure compliance with applicable standards, adhering to organization’s policies and procedures, including standards of behavior and safety guidelines.
- Enhance communication between various levels of staff, departments and customers to promote a caring and respectful work environment.
- Provide direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner and ensure follow‑through.
- Cultivate and promote staff expertise and knowledge relevant to the needs of the specific environment.
- Assist with the formation, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, and competencies.
- Perform necessary edits for Kronos time‑management system and payroll.
Service
- Engage physicians to promote physician relations as measured by physician satisfaction survey.
- Assist and/or promote positive patient experience through various stages of care as measured by patient satisfaction survey.
- Develop and implement action plans to improve overall patient satisfaction scores.
- Promote excellence in patient experience.
- Interact effectively and efficiently with management and staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Ensure proper function, maintenance and repair of all instrumentation and equipment, including repair records, service contracts and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Work closely with the nursing and medical staff and other clinical department managers in addressing pharmaceutical services issues as they relate to services provided to all patients ranging from the newborn to the elderly.
Quality
- Maintain and monitor JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.
- Gather and report quality indicators generated by department activity.
- Support organization strategies to meet core measure goals.
- Develop and implement action plans to improve patient experience.
Growth
- Support organization strategies to increase volumes.
- Mentor and develop staff.
Department Administrator
- Establish and enforce policies, procedures, standards, and objectives.
- Direct and supervise staff as well as workflow.
- Responsible for budgetary or fiscal accountability.
- Work 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of the pharmacy by exerting a leadership role that supports the hospital’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives, while focusing on patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers.
- Continuously assess, improve, coordinate and integrate department services and standards of care into the hospital’s primary function.
- Approve timekeeping, employee evaluation, meet applicable regulatory standards and approve supply orders.
