Head Golf Professional
CLUB OVERVIEW Located in Jacksonville, Florida, Jacksonville Golf & Country Club is a private high‑end, 18‑hole facility located between downtown and the Jacksonville Beaches. Originally designed by Clyde Johnston & Fuzzy Zoeller, the golf course opened in 1989 with 5 sets of tee boxes – the longest of which plays just under 6,900 yards. The course hosted the Florida Amateur Championship as well as the Florida Mid‑Amateur. The club has roughly 650 total members with 360 of those being golf members. The course plays 31,000 rounds annually and has an initiation fee of $35,000.

JOB EXPERIENCE & DESCRIPTION JGCC is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with tremendous passion for the golf industry to become our next Head Golf Professional. Director of Golf, Clint Avret, has been recently hired but comes to JGCC with over 21 years of Head Professional/Director of Golf experience at top clubs. He has mentored numerous former Assistant Professionals to become Directors of Golf, Head Professionals, Lead Assistants, and Director of Instruction Roles. Ideally, this individual will have experience at high‑end private clubs or high‑end public/resort facilities with a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred. This individual should be a Class A member of the PGA or LPGA or very close to finishing their work. This individual should have a positive attitude and ambition to learn and prepare themselves for a bright future in the golf industry. They should be goal‑oriented and career‑minded and eager to gain new experiences in the golf professional world. Experience in teaching, playing, tournament operations using Golf Genius is a must and the ability to perform at a high level and provide the highest levels of customer service is paramount.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES The scope of the below mentioned responsibilities only outline a portion of the job duties required and are not limited to:
Manage & oversee the golf operation including all members and guest play, the practice facility, the Golf Shop and Outside Operation (12-15 full and part‑time employees) daily.
An advocate for true golf experience as an ambassador the club, to the membership, golf staff, and community
Represent JGCC, its membership, and the management team in an utmost professional manner, internally and externally and at professional events
Develop systems to measure and monitor effectiveness of staff, retail management programs, proper inventory control practices, service levels, and golf related events
Implement the club's policies and procedures and maintain our excellent service levels to provide a first‑class golf experience for members and guests
Ability to interact and be involved with all parts of the club's operation and its employees
Ability to develop and implement our golf business via social media, e‑commerce, and other avenues of communication as it relates to merchandise, club events, lessons, clinics etc.
Assists the Golf Operations team with all aspects of the golf operation, including the merchandising plan, teaching programs, and tournament operations
Will be heavily involved in the club's tournament program with direct responsibilities in both promoting and conducting the club's events to the highest of standards
Provide golf instruction and clinics for all levels of golfers with an emphasis on Junior Golf
Knowledge of Golf Genius Tournament Software as well as point of sale systems and tee time reservation systems
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Publisher, Word & Excel
Basic club repair knowledge
Ability to manage all job‑related activities such as golf tournaments, pace of play, merchandising and inventory while maintaining a balanced professional life away from work
Assists members, prospective members, and guests including but not limited to tee time reservations, checking in members and their guests, club information, golf rates, and club policies
Play golf with membership at a high level as well as representing the club in local, regional, and national golf tournaments
Benefits & Compensation COMPENSATION The position will start at $70,000 annually plus lessons.
BENEFITS WITH THE POSITION INCLUDE
Vacation: The Head Golf Professional shall be entitled to vacation per the employee handbook. Scheduling such vacation shall be approved by the Director of Golf.
Work/Life Balance: We do our best to keep to a 5‑day work week and minimum of 45 hours during our golf season (October - May) and a 4 to 5‑day work week in our off season (June - September) including having weekend days off regularly.
Insurance/401K: The Head Golf Professional is entitled to Major Medical, Vision, Health and Life Insurance, short‑ & long‑term disability, as well as access to the company's 401K plan after one year of employment.
PGA Dues: The Head Golf Professional will have their annual member dues paid in full as well as any other dues from organizations which provide impactful benefits to the club's operation
Commission: 100% of all lessons, clinics as well as additional income from basic club repairs
Meals: Up to 2 meals per day are provided by the club at no cost
Clothing/Education/Tournament Allowance: Reimbursement for continuing education as well as select tournament entries as approved by the Director of Golf and up to $1000 annually for club clothing.
