Type: 1099 contractor, 90-day project with potential to extend
Start: March 2025
Commitment: ~20 hours/week
Rate: $50-90/hour depending on experience
Location: Richmond, VA (hybrid – attend store/production shoots in Scott's Addition)
About the Role
We're a small but mighty marketing team – two freelancers and one of the owners – supporting a 40-year-old local ice cream company as we scale our first-ever loyalty program and grow our presence across Richmond and Hampton Roads. We need a hands-on creative who blends strong graphic design with social video skills to help us execute campaigns across email, social, and in-store channels.
This is an execution-first role. You'll receive creative briefs, deliver publish-ready assets, and help us elevate quality while increasing speed. This isn't community management or strategy development, but we absolutely welcome collaboration and fresh ideas that make our work better.
Must-Have Skills
(2-3+ years experience)
Graphic design: Email headers, Instagram posts, promotional signage
Video editing: Reels, short-form social content, lightweight editing
Platform fluency: Instagram trends, best practices, content formats
Design tools: Canva, Adobe Suite, CapCut
AI-assisted workflows: Comfortable using Claude, Canva AI, etc. to accelerate production (human judgment required for final outputs)
What You'll Own
Instagram creative (static posts + Reels)
Email visual assets (built in Paytronix)
In-store promotional signage
Light website promo updates
On-location content capture at stores/production facility
Iterating on consolidated feedback
Delivering final, publish-ready files
What You Won't Own
Community management (handled internally)
Social posting/scheduling
Strategy or messaging decisions
Channel prioritization
Working Style
Weekly creative briefings (shifting to bi-weekly as we build rhythm)
Attend 2-3 team meetings/week during core hours (M-F, 9am-3pm)
Creative work completed on your schedule as long as deadlines are met
Consolidated feedback loops – we'll streamline revisions to keep things moving
AI is a production accelerator in this role. We expect you to use tools like Claude, Canva AI, and other platforms to speed up concepting, layout variations, and execution. Final work should reflect strong brand fluency and human creative judgment.
Hiring range for this role is $50-$90 based on experience.
