Internship Title: Art Associates
Internship Description/Learning Objectives: The selected associates will learn art and the different formats. They will participate in art daily and work their way up to a self-portrait or group mural. In addition, the associates will participate in social emotional learning sessions, i.e., job readiness, retention, job training, customer service, conflict resolution, anger management, mindfulness, financial management, and communication / public speaking. Our holistic approach will also feature fitness activities.
Job Duties: Cleaning, sweeping, wiping tables, listening, engaging in art activities, workshops, and fitness activities.
Preferred Competencies: A passion for art.
General Information
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM (4 hours daily, 20 hours per week)
Dress Code: T-shirts, sneakers, jeans, warm‑ups; no short shorts
Travel Required: None
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 5–20 pounds
Working Conditions: In Doors
Program Schedule Full program: June 1st–July 17th
June 1st–3rd: Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.
June 4th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport.
June 5th–July 17th: Team members on site at agencies Monday‑Friday at scheduled times. Standard work: 4 hours daily, 20 hours per week.
July 13th–17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program – End of Summer Celebration; team members can showcase their projects.
Compensation and Focus You will be paid $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project‑based employment for youth ages 14–15.
Experience Work projects can focus on the arts, leadership skills or community development. You will learn work‑ready skills for future employment. Opportunities are available in many areas of Nashville; select the opportunity based on your transportation access.
