Internship Description/Learning Objectives:
The chosen associates will have a love for theater and will engage in writing, directing, creating props, as well as developing a production. In addition, the associates will engage in social emotional learning sessions which include job training/ readiness, job retention, conflict resolution, customer service, mindfulness, anger management, and communication / public speaking. The holistic approach will also feature fitness activities and college tour.
Job Duties:
Reading and memorizing scripts, writing scripts, acting out a monologue
Learning positions: lighting, curtains, make up, sound, etc.
Active listening is a major duty of the job.
Preferred Competencies:
Desire to act and love for theater
General Information Work Schedule Days and Hours:
Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Dress Code:
T-shirts, jeans, warmups, scandals, sneakers, and no short shorts.
Travel Required:
None
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift five, ten, fifteen pounds.
Working Conditions:
School theater
Program Dates:
June 1st– July 17th
June 1st – June 3rd:
Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.
June 4th:
POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport
June 5th – July 17th:
Team Members on site at their agencies Monday-Friday at the scheduled time.
Schedule: 4 hours daily, 20 hours per week.
July 13th – July 17th:
POWER Youth Summer Employment Program – End of Summer Celebration – Team Members can showcase their projects from the summer.
If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project-based employment for youth ages 14-15.
Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.
