Internship Description/Learning Objectives:
The chosen band associates will bring instruments, learn how to read music, and engage in social emotional learning sessions which include job readiness/retention, conflict resolution, anger management, mindfulness, and communication/public speaking. The goal is to cultivate the total person; fitness activities and a college tour have been added.
Job Duties:
Bringing and playing instrument.
Participating in workshops and fitness activities.
Light cleaning of the band room after use daily.
Listening and journaling.
Preferred Competencies:
Ability to play an instrument.
General Information Work Schedule Days and Hours:
Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Dress Code:
Comfortable attire, jeans, warmups, scandals, sneakers.
Travel Required:
None
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 10 to 15 pounds
Working Conditions:
Indoors band room
Program Schedule The full program is June 1st – July 17th.
June 1st – June 3rd: Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.
June 4th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport.
June 5th – July 17th: Team Members on site at their agencies Monday-Friday at the time scheduled by employer. You will be scheduled to work 4 hours daily, which equals 20 hours per week.
July 13th – July 17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program - End of Summer Celebration – Team Members can showcase their projects from the summer.
If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project‑based employment for youth ages 14-15.
Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work‑ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.
