Position Overview The Benefits Administrative Specialist is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant administration of employee benefits for a multi-client PEO environment. This role supports benefit enrollments, eligibility changes, carrier coordination, and system configuration while working closely with payroll, accounting, and HR teams. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-demand environment and is highly organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused.
Key Responsibilities
Process benefit enrollments, terminations, and eligibility changes accurately and on time within HRIS and carrier systems
Maintain and configure benefit plans to ensure correct billing, deductions, and taxability
Create, monitor, and finalize online enrollments
Set up and manage FSA and HSA accounts for participating employees
Ensure COBRA vendors receive timely termination notifications and rate information
Partner with carriers to resolve urgent access-to-care and eligibility issues
Proactively manage new client benefit setups, open enrollments, and system updates
Maintain detailed client notes to ensure seamless team coverage
Coordinate with payroll to verify payroll accuracy and with accounting to reconcile variances
Assist with API and carrier feed troubleshooting
Respond to employee and client inquiries via Salesforce and RingCentral
Act as backup support for other Benefits Administrative Specialists
Complete additional projects and duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
3–5+ years of benefits administration or HR administrative experience
Strong understanding of employee benefits fundamentals (medical, dental, vision, COBRA, FSA/HSA, retirement)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-volume environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and confidentiality
