Direct Reports: Threeyear-round staff
Hours: Full-time, Year-Round, Exempt Position. Weekends/Eveningsare occasionally required tosupport the facilities and maintenance of the Museum. Flexibility to be contacted outside of working hours in emergency situations.

Position Overview
TheSeniorDirector of Operations willsupervise all facilities,security, and housekeepingstaff in day-to-day operations aswell ascapital improvementwork– this encompasses astaff of 12-15 and a budget of over $500,000. This position will also manage all IT work, including maintenanceofandlong-term planning for computers,hardware, software, internet, and phones. It will also serve as the Museum’sproject manager for all work performed by outside contractorson non-historic buildings.This positionrequires budget and project management experience andcollaborates extensively with staff across the Museum, including Programming and Special Events, Visitor Services, Administration, Curatorial, and Interpretation.
Responsibilities(including but not limited to)
Managementof Facilities,Security,& Housekeeping(70%)
- Supervisemanagers ofFacilities,Security,and Housekeeping,with responsibilitiesincludinghiring,scheduling,assigningtasks,andtraining; alsoprovideadditionalwork support when the job requiresadditionalstaffing.
- Develop andmaintaindepartmental budgets, and work plans for scheduled maintenance ofpublicbuildings, HVAC systems, septic systems, service roads,and parking lots; also serve as the Museum’s project manager for all work performed by outside contractors on these areas.
- Manage Safety Committee and training for all Museum staff on a variety of safety and security related issues.
- Oversee and work to support in the repair, maintenance and upkeep of equipment and vehiclesandmaintainsite-wide capital needs list and manage purchase of equipment as funds are available
- Oversee and provide operational support for other departments such as Special Events, Education,and Rentals including the supervision of set-ups and tear downsfor events and programs.
- Collaborate withother departments, includingCollections, Visitor Services, andInterpretation tomeet their facilities, security, and housekeeping-related needs.
Management of ITInfrastructure & Maintenance(15%)
- ManageDirector ofInformation Technologywho has responsibilityforall aspects of the Museum’s IT needs, including Servers,Software,Desktops, Phones, Internet, Security Systems,and Cameras, as well as work with outside IT vendors
- Plan andmaintaina technology replacement and usage strategy
Other(10%)
- Ensurethat the Museum continues in compliance with all applicable OSHA, NYS Health Department,and local building codes and regulations
- Maintain and promote positive working relationships with local/regional police, health,and fire departments
- Serve as a member of the Administrative Committee
- Manage Facilities Committee work
- Frequently interact with Board of Trustees, key donors, and stakeholders
- Anyadditionalresponsibilitiesas prescribed bythe President and CEO
Qualifications
- Eightto tenyears of progressive facilities management/supervisory experience
- Strong managerial/organizational skills, specific to facilities management, including project planning and management,preventative maintenance, preparation of bidding specifications,and quote analysis/comparisons
- Ability to create and manage budgets and develop relationships with vendors
- Familiarity with common IT issues and ability to project manageto resolve them
- Mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of the commoncomponents of a physicalplanti.e.HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication,and collaboration skills, plus the ability to be cool under pressure andmaintaina constant problem-solving attitude
- Working knowledge of state, municipal,and local building codes, fire codes,and environmental regulationsi.e.pesticide application regulations
- A valid NYS driver’s license
Salary
$72,000-$75,000 annual salary
Working conditions
- Be able to sit or stand forlong periodsof time, up to 50% of your shift.
- Ability to lift 30-50lbsindependently
- Able to climb and work safely from ladders.
- Ability to work in inclement weather, as needed.
