Hours:

40 hours a week, onsite. Typically, a Monday-Friday schedule with occasional weekends and evenings needed during museums’ open season.

POSITION OVERVIEW The Content Marketing Manager, reporting to the VP of Marketing and Visitor Services, is responsible for creating, refining, and managing compelling content that motivates action among our target populations across our digital platforms. This role will work across our programs and teams, with the goal of increasing exposure, attendance and revenue for all activities.

This role is best suited for someone creative, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and storyteller with a keen eye for visual content, who enjoys creating engaging digital media. They are self-motivated and able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners. A successful candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and data-driven, using analytics to refine strategies and improve engagement. They are also passionate about our mission and are committed to maintaining a consistent and compelling brand presence across all platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES Social Media & Website Maintenance (50%):

Lead & manage the Museum’s digital presence across multiple platforms, working independently to create and distribute content; in particular, expand the organization’s presence on underutilized platforms

Manage and update a comprehensive content calendar to ensure the timely and relevant delivery of content.

Coordinate with internal teams to amplify events, programs, and initiatives across media channels

Maintain e-distribution lists and write and distribute Museum electronic communications

Maintain Museum’s website, including writing and updating content.

Regularly follow and report on content metrics and recommend strategy adjustments as needed

General PR & Marketing (25%):

Write and edit public-facing communications, including press releases, email newsletters, blog posts, reports, and web copy

Research and generate original content for stories and articles

Cultivate relationships with local, regional and national media outlets and maintain appropriate media contact lists

Assist marketing consultant with placement of advertisements as needed

Digital Asset Management (25%):

Assist with photography, video content, and creative design for social/digital assets

Maintain photo, video, and print archive

Ensure consistency with museum branding and style guidelines in visual and written brand identity across all content

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

3–5 years of experience in communications, media, marketing, or related roles—preferably within nonprofit organizations

Strong design sense and ability to deliver clean, brand-consistent writing, editing, and storytelling content with a sharp eye for detail (work samples required)

Strong social media strategy and content development experience

Proficiency with Canva, Constant Contact, Smartsheet, and major social platforms

Confident project manager with the ability to juggle competing priorities under deadlines

Must be collaborative, resourceful, and comfortable working directly with executives, partners, and volunteers

Experience with press outreach, earned media, or public relations a plus

Must be available to work full-time on-site at our location in Mumford

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily working in an office environment and spending extended periods of time seated at desk using a computer and office equipment.

During the Museums busy season, this position may work outdoors and may be required to walk longer distances during shifts including different types of terrain or in inclement weather to accommodate events and meetings.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

SALARY AND BENEFITS Salary: $23.00-$25.00/hr. (Based on experience)
