Salary: $3,861.00 – $6,276.00 per month (12‑month limited term; up to 24 months or permanent)

Job Type: 12‑Month Limited Term – Full Time

Location: Glendale MSC (in‑office 8:00 am–5:00 pm; up to 50% travel to Irvine, Riverside, and San Diego MSCs)

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm

Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Member Service Center Manager and Pension Program Manager II, the CalSTRS Benefits Specialist performs duties of average difficulty for the less complex assigned areas associated with providing retirement benefits planning. The incumbent must exercise discretion, diplomacy, confidentiality, and initiative while taking action to resolve issues as they arise.

Qualifications

Basic mathematical comprehension and experience with calculations, such as averages, decimals, formulas and percentages

Ability to travel overnight to various trainings and meetings

Experience delivering information to audiences of various sizes

Experience providing customer service in a variety of ways

Ability to work various hours at times to support member services

Experience researching, analyzing, interpreting laws and policies

Experience working with confidential information

Experience providing feedback and explaining complex information

Minimum Requirements

ANALYST I

Working Conditions CalSTRS offers a hybrid approach including in‑office and remote work solutions based on business needs.

All staff are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings.

Visa sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.

Special Requirements Exam: This position requires a current Analyst I examination. If you need to take the examination or your score has expired, please obtain eligibility.

Background Investigation: A background investigation consisting of a Personal History Statement and fingerprinting will be conducted.

Disclosure Requirements: This position may be subject to disclosure and disqualification requirements concerning economic conflict of interest in government work.
