Job Description Overview This leadership role oversees Emergency Services operations for a community-based acute care hospital serving a high-acuity patient population. The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for clinical excellence, operational performance, staffing, and financial stewardship while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and patient-centered care. This position plays a critical role in advancing department growth initiatives, including future expansion planning.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
Oversee staffing, scheduling, productivity, and labor management for approximately 50 FTEs
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance for the department
Drive quality, safety, throughput, and patient experience metrics
Develop, implement, and sustain departmental policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives
Collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary leaders to support clinical excellence and service line growth
Prepare the department for future expansion and evolving community needs
Build and maintain a high-engagement, high-accountability team culture
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree (or approved equivalent education plan)
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or active compact license
Minimum of 1 year of applicable emergency services leadership or management experience
Demonstrated performance outcomes and measurable accomplishments listed on résumé
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
3+ years of progressive emergency services leadership experience
Recent Emergency Department Manager experience in a comparable setting
