Overview
We are conducting a confidential search on behalf of a leading DTC subscription business undergoing rapid transformation. The Sr. Director, Strategic Marketing Initiatives will serve as a critical partner and force multiplier to the marketing leadership team—ensuring clarity, alignment, and execution across brand, acquisition, retention, and analytics.
This highly visible role is designed for a strategic operator who is equally comfortable in the boardroom and in the details of execution. This leader will bring rigor to marketing operations, lead high-priority initiatives, and act as the CMO’s proxy in cross-functional situations.
Responsibilities
- Translate the CMO’s vision into actionable initiatives spanning brand, growth, and retention.
- Partner with analytics and data teams to define KPIs, deliver insights, and guide marketing decisions.
- Stand up frameworks, processes, and operating cadences that accelerate decision-making and execution.Lead special projects (e.g., vendor transitions, channel launches, performance audits, organizational design).
- Build alignment across Marketing, Product, Finance, and Operations to ensure priorities are resourced and delivered.
- Represent the CMO in senior leadership meetings and ensure follow-through on commitments.
- Identify and develop key full funnel, lifecycle marketing strategies to unlock growth or delivery efficiencies in a DTC subscription business.
Qualifications
- 15 years of experience in marketing strategy, operations, or Chief of Staff capacity in a DTC subscription or relevant, consumer business.
- Deep familiarity with subscription economics, retention flows, and customer lifecycle management.
- Strong technical fluency: marketing analytics, CRM/CDP systems, attribution models, and automation.
- Proven ability to influence without direct authority, aligning senior leaders around shared priorities.Skilled at moving from strategy to execution—comfortable structuring ambiguous problems and driving measurable outcomes.
- Executive presence and discretion; able to build trust with leadership and manage sensitive projects.
- New York-based or open to relocation preferred.
