Job Description Building-Based Special Education Director Needed
Location: Champlain Valley School District, 2026-2027 School Year. The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking an innovative, collaborative leader to join the CVSD leadership team as a Building-Based Special Education Director. CVSD is a PreK-12 system comprising the communities of Charlotte, Hinesburg, St. George, Shelburne, and Williston. The director will support a PreK-8th grade school within CVSD. Our progressive learning community prides itself in being a growth‑minded organization with a commitment to ensuring the best educational opportunities for all students. The successful candidate will share the values embedded in our mission/vision.
The Director of Special Education is a member of the CVSD special education leadership team and building‑based administrative leadership team. Working in conjunction with CVSD, the Director will coordinate Special Education and 504 services, and collaborate with principals to provide leadership within a multi‑tiered system of support.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a strong advocate for all students, teachers, and families
Be knowledgeable regarding special education regulations and procedures
Have documented leadership experience regarding the development of intervention models within an MTSS framework
Must have at least three years of experience as an educator and hold or be eligible for an endorsement as a Director of Special Education.
This is a 260‑day contract and compensation will be competitive based upon experience.

$100,000 to $130,000 Per Year

Master’s degree preferred
