Primary Purpose:
The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for the CSISD Education Foundation. This role builds and sustains meaningful relationships with parents, community members, businesses, and partner organizations to advance student success. The Director leads fundraising efforts, cultivates community investment, and ensures effective governance, financial stewardship, and program impact in alignment with the Foundation’s mission.
Qualifications Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (preferred fields: nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, or related area).
CFRE or CEFL certification a plus.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit management, fundraising principles, ethics, and legal compliance
Proven ability to design and execute strategic fundraising initiatives
Strong leadership and governance experience working with boards of directors
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
Ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders
Financial acumen, including budget development, forecasting, and financial reporting
Data-informed decision-making and program evaluation
Strategic planning (short- and long-term)
Staff supervision, team development, and volunteer management
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
Sound judgment, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe products, QuickBooks, and related software
Experience
Minimum of five years of progressive nonprofit leadership experience, with demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, and annual planning
Experience working effectively with a board of directors and community leaders
Major Responsibilities and Duties Leadership & Administration
Serve as liaison between the Foundation and College Station ISD
Partner with the Foundation Board to ensure strong governance, transparency, and accountability
Support and equip board members to serve as effective ambassadors
Attend Board of Trustees and district committee meetings as requested
Foster a collaborative, positive work environment and support staff development
Maintain compliance with applicable laws, policies, and best practices
Fund Development
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy including annual campaigns, major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, special events, payroll giving, and endowment growth
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors
Oversee fundraising events, sponsorships, and donor communicationsEnsure funds are managed in accordance with donor intent and organizational priorities
Communicate measurable impact of Foundation programs and initiatives
Maintain accurate donor records and ensure confidentiality
Financial Management
Develop and administer the Foundation’s annual budget in partnership with the Board
Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to the Board
Oversee endowment and investment accounts
Coordinate financial reviews and audits with external CPA
Ensure accurate tracking of fundraising revenue and expenditures
Programs & Community Engagement
Oversee Foundation programs including scholarships, teaching grants, staff recognition initiatives, Chrissy’s Closet, Amy Anderson Literacy Legacy and special projects
Promote community awareness and engagement through strategic communications and public relations
Maintain strong relationships with district leadership, staff, media, elected officials, and community partners
Personnel Management
Supervise and evaluate Foundation staff
Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development processes in coordination with district leadership
Develop and maintain job descriptions for Foundation positions
Supervisory Responsibilities
Office Manager
Media Specialist
Contract personnel (e.g., grant writers, event support)
Other
Engage in ongoing professional development and industry leadership to remain current on best practices, legal developments, and emerging trends.
Represent the Foundation in professional organizations and the broader philanthropic community.
Fulfill responsibilities that may require evening and weekend commitments.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Foundation’s mission.
Equipment used Personal or laptop computer, printer, copier, fax machine, shredder, calculator, telephone, electronic mobile devices, projector, and video display monitor
