Job Summary
Global Views is seeking a product designer to produce refined, resolved designs of decorative accessories, mirrors, textiles, furniture and lighting based on direction from Sr. VP of Product Development and Creative Director. This role will see designs through the product development cycle and communicate directly with our global network of factories. The designer will create colorways and designs to sit harmoniously within collections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Communicate and coordinate product design and development from initial concept via drawings, marked-up photos, e-mails, and overnight delivery packages to agents and manufacturers.
Obtain merchandise samples from factories and receive price quotes.
Follow progress of product, critique samples, and provide solutions for improving the designs.
Examine final outcomes and approve for production or modification of merchandise.
Analyze market trends to determine “taste level” for color and style of potential products and establish how the merchandise will acclimate with existing items.
Generate additional merchandise sales by supporting the Sales team concerning the type of products being marketed.
Travel to out-of-state markets and overseas factories.
Education, Experience, and Requirements
On-line portfolio.
Desire to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary role.
Bachelor’s Degree in Design related field of study.
2 to 4 years design related business experience.
Proficiency required in Adobe products, SOLIDWORKS CAD or equivalent, InDesign, and SketchUp; willingness to learn new software as needs arise.
AI product development experience.
Sketchbooks and hand drafting tools may also be used.
Fluent in Pantone and ARS color systems.
Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Ability Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively with colleagues and peers, solve practical problems in varied situations, interpret instructions, understand implications of new information, use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses, and communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the audience.
