Job Summary Housing reports to the Division of Auxiliary Services, with an indirect report to the Division of Student Affairs. This position fosters a community focused on student learning and success across twelve residential complexes on three campuses: Statesboro, Savannah, and Swainsboro. The Residence Hall Director (RHD) is a full‑time, live‑in staff member responsible for the administration and management of the residential setting on the East Georgia Campus in Swainsboro, GA. RHDs train, supervise, and evaluate six undergraduate student leaders; implement the Residential Curriculum; adjudicate conduct cases; participate in a campus‑wide on‑call rotation; and serve on departmental committees. This role is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Jeanne Clery Act and carries significant student and campus responsibilities. CSAs are required to report crimes disclosed to them that occur on campus, in public areas adjacent to campus, or in certain university‑owned or leased non‑campus buildings. This is a 12‑month position. Summer assignments may include supporting events on the Statesboro or Savannah campuses. Compensation includes a furnished two‑bedroom apartment, unlimited meal plan, and the possibility of a roommate and pet, in accordance with university guidelines.
Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate 6 Resident Assistants, including regularly scheduled one‑on‑one meetings, weekly staff meetings, and management of behavioral expectations
Establish a positive working and living relationship between residents and staff members by being present and available to assist students with various needs
Provide experiences designed to address the developmental needs of college students
Ensure students and staff members are aware of the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Georgia Southern University and adjudicate cases involving inappropriate behaviors, as needed
Intervene in crises as they arise, including serving as the second‑tier duty response for the entire housing community
Work with various partners in Housing to maintain accurate occupancy records, adhere to purchasing policies, and provide administrative oversight for the assigned residential community
Establish a presence in the halls and report any concerns encountered, including behavior, facilities‑related issues, and health & safety concerns
Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisory team or institutional leadership

Experience serving in a student staff position in a University Housing program

Proposed Salary $43,888. This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
