About the Role
Lumenci is seeking high-levelTechnology Expert Witnessesto provide authoritative technical analysis and testimony for complex IP litigation, patent disputes, and technical investigations. We are looking for experts to join us in two capacitiesin a contractor (1099)or Full-Timeemployment(W-2):
Contractor position (1099):For specialized industry practitioners or independent consultants available for high-stakes, project-specific testimony and deep-dive technical discovery.
Full-Timeposition(W-2): For experts looking to build a career within Lumenci, managing a consistent portfolio of cases, mentoring junior consultants, and contributing to long-term strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Expert Technical Analysis & Discovery
- Map technical coverage across key domains including one or multiple software, semiconductors, telecom, networking, and/or medical devices.
- Conduct deep-dive reviews of product architectures, hardware RTL, and/orsoftware source code toidentifyinfringement or invalidity.
- Analyze technical standards (e.g., SEP/FRAND) and patent portfolios to support case strategy andmonetizationlifecycles.
Expert Reporting & Authoring
- Draft comprehensive opening and rebuttal expert reports that meetFRE 702andRule 26standards.
- Collaborate withLumenci’sconsulting teamand Clientsto ensure technical findings are accurately translated into defensible legal arguments.
Testimony & Litigation Support
- Provide high-stakes deposition and trial testimony,maintainingprofessional credibility and composure under cross-examination.
- Participate in technical tutorials for judges and counsel to simplify complex subject matter and illuminate the way for non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
Technical & Academic Requirements
- Education:Ph.D. orMaster’sdegree in CS, EE, or a related technical field.
- Industry Expertise:10+ years of deep technical experience inspecializeddomains(e.g., Video Codecs, Semiconductors,Software, AI/ML, Telecom,Cloud Infrastructure,etc.).
- Communication:Exceptional verbal and written skills; ability to author defensible expert reports.
- Prior experience as a testifying expert in Federal Court or Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings and familiarity with IP litigation workflows, including discovery, claim charting, and validity analysis are notrequiredbut highly preferred.

- U.S. Work Authorization:Mustbe authorized towork in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- State Residency:This role is only open to residents of TX(preferred city Austin), FL, GA, VA, or OH.This position is not eligible to be performed in CA, CO, NY, or WA, and we are not accepting applications from residents of those states.
