Bachelor’s Degree in relatable industry or field recommended, but not required. Can substitute experience for education.
SUMMARY
The Communication Account Manager is responsible for managing client relationships, leading communication strategies, and ensuring the successful delivery of integrated PR and communication programs. This role combines strategic thinking, client leadership, and team management.
Participate in growing company business, maintain existing resources and relationships, and create and maintain resources and relationships by attending events, conferences, etc., and/or joining and participating in industry-related associations.
Report to Senior Account Manager (if applicable) and Project Advisor (Communication Director + ) status updates of project
Own and lead client relationships, acting as the primary strategic advisor
Lead the development and oversee communication and marketing plans and strategies aligned with client business goals
Present strategies, results, and recommendations directly to senior client stakeholders
Manage scopes of work, media budgets, and timelines
Proactively identify opportunities for growth, visibility, and reputation management
Handle complex issues, crisis communication, and high-level media relations
Create relevant and effective content across channels to include website copy, social media copy, email blasts, blogs, award nominations, talking points, and media materials on behalf of clients
Write media relations materials, including news releases, pitch letters, fact sheets and other content for pitches, reports and proposals
Develop and cultivate strong understanding of local, regional, and national media landscapes and their contacts
Researching and pursue media and promotional opportunities to promote clients
Responding to information requests from the media and proactively pitching stories to media to obtain coverage for clients
Helping clients communicate effectively with various audiences and target markets
Helping build and maintain client’s image and brand identity
Arranging interviews for clients and appropriate spokespeople
Attending client meetings and coordinating communication with clients
Measuring and reporting project updates and results
Oversee quality control of all client deliverables before release
Contribute to agency growth through cross-selling, and proposal development
Collaborate with leadership on resource planning and account profitability
Ensure agency standards, processes, and values are upheld across accounts
Support new business pitches and agency thought leadership initiatives
Qualifications
4–6+ years of experience in a communication or PR agency
Proven experience managing client accounts and leading teams
Strong strategic planning and presentation skills
Ability to balance client expectations with agency priorities
Experience managing budgets and contributing to business development
