Position Summary

The College of Engineering (COE) at Oregon State University (OSU) seeks a creative and enthusiastic student-employee to join our team as a Student Photographer.

The COE Marketing and Communications team produces a variety of content to enhance the college's image, reputation, and recruitment efforts including, magazines, promotional materials, and social media content.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in capturing images and video that tell the story of COE and support the college's priorities and goals.

This recruitment will be used to fill a part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) student photographer position.

Position Duties

Assignments can include portrait, event, and lab/classroom photography and video sessions with a DSLR camera and/or smartphone.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Experience with DSLR cameras.
  • Ability to work as a team member and effectively interact with co-workers, using a collaborative work style.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience creating social media content.
  • Ability to meet deadlines set by the marketing and communications team.
  • Comfortable engaging with students, faculty, and staff to capture dynamic energy of campus life and candid moments that highlight the student experience.
  • Desire to learn new skills.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • Experience with lighting equipment.
  • Familiarity with the OSU brand guidelines.


Working Conditions / Work Schedule

The hours are flexible to accommodate class schedules, approximately 10 hours/week, max 20 hours/week for full-time students.
