Position Details
The Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) within the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) at The City University of New York (CUNY) Central Office serves as the primary student recruitment office across the CUNY system. It disseminates information about all CUNY colleges, offers guidance and support to prospective undergraduate and graduate students, and processes all undergraduate freshman and transfer admissions applications.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Enrollment Strategy & Outreach, the Assistant Director of Enrollment Systems & Applicant Engagement applies expertise in data-informed marketing strategies, multi-channel communications, and CRM-driven engagement to advance recruitment and enrollment goals. The position works closely with Undergraduate and Graduate Recruitment, Welcome Center Operations and the University Application Processing Center (UAPC), and the Office of Communications & Marketing to ensure collaboration, teamwork, and alignment with university branding and standards.
This role requires proficiency in content strategy, web presence, social media, advertising, and analytics to engage prospective students and key influencers, ultimately supporting enrollment growth across CUNY’s 26 colleges.
Responsibilities
Implement and maintain strategic communication plans that promote CUNY and its colleges to prospective students and influencers through multiple channels.
Develop Slate CRM training resources, including a codebook and user guide, and deliver training for new and existing users to ensure communications are effective, clear, concise and consistent.
Support campus use of Slate CRM and CUNYfirst to enhance recruitment, onboarding, and retention communications across Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and administrative offices.
Apply Slate CRM capabilities to connect students with academic programs, faculty, and early engagement initiatives.
Maintain Central Office and campus user lists and system permissions in collaboration with technical teams.
Serve as a point of contact with software vendors and internal stakeholders, including Oracle/CUNYfirst, Slate Technolutions, Freshworks, Institutional Research & Assessment, and the CUNYfirst implementation team.
Monitor, analyze, and report on key marketing and communication metrics to refine strategies and improve effectiveness.
Maintain expertise in enrollment and advising technologies such as Slate CRM and EAB Navigate; keep current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Contribute to the planning and adoption of future system applications to strengthen recruitment and retention initiatives.
Support Central Office marketing efforts through web, digital, and social media platforms, ensuring brand consistency and engagement optimization.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum
Bachelor's degree and four years’ related experience required.
Progressive experience in admissions, enrollment management, student services, or related higher education setting.
Proficiency with CRM platforms, admissions systems, reporting dashboards, data visualizations, social insight tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics).
Strong ability as a subject matter expert with understanding of system technicalities as they relate to business processes.
Knowledge of social media strategy, SEO optimization tools, display media, and search advertising (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, Hulu, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop materials for diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and campuses to achieve shared enrollment goals.
Familiarity with current and emerging trends in enrollment marketing, digital communications, and recruitment strategies.

Analyzes and interprets quantitative and qualitative student enrollment data to prepare reports for management.
Recommends and implements changes to existing technical systems and office operations.

Prepares, reviews, and coordinates the production and distribution of student communication materials.
May coordinate aspects of student entry from point of acceptance to include orientation, advisement, and collection of admitted student documents.
May supervise office operations, staff and/or department budget.

FLSA Non-exempt
Compensation and Benefits The salary range is
$86,741 - $94,909
commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.
Effective 9/1/26, salaries will be adjusted by 3.25% in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement for eligible employees.
