CHURCH DESCRIPTION: Christ First Covina, christfirstcovina.org, is a multi-generational, bilingual church in the heart of beautiful San Gabriel Valley, 10 minutes from Azusa Pacific University and 30 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. We are a community of 150-175 average attendance. We currently host an English-speaking service at 9am and a Spanish speaking service at 10:45am, with children’s ministry at both services. Our church exists to grow and equip disciples of every generation to reach their world for Christ. We lean into these four (4) core values to pursue that mission: Inviting Community, Intentional Discipleship, Outward Focus, and Authentic Worship.

ROLE SUMMARY The Lead Pastor will shepherd the congregation through spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, pastoral care, and organizational stability while preserving the church’s theological foundation and relational culture. This role emphasizes faithful teaching, unity, pastoral presence, and steady leadership during the next season of the church’s life.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Preaching and Teaching Lead Christ First Covina English Service and oversee the Spanish Ministry in accomplishing its mission by faithfully teaching biblical truth. Deliver biblically sound, expository sermons grounded in Scripture. Uphold the CFC Statement of Faith, maintain a personal walk with God, and model a Spirit-led life. Continually seek the wisdom and leading of Christ as Lord of the Church. Nurture the biblical maturity of believers through teaching and discipleship. Lead the planning and execution of preaching, discipleship, and ministry training.

Pastoral Care Provide and/or oversee counseling, visitation, and spiritual support to members. Officiate and/or oversee weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other significant church milestones. Be accessible, present, and relational within the church body.

Congregational Leadership Build unity, trust, and continuity within the congregation. Provide steady leadership during seasons of transition. Support and encourage ministry teams and volunteers. Foster healthy relationships across generations.

Leadership and Planning Keep the Board of Elders informed and support them through regular (monthly) meetings. Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organizations to promote collaboration and ministry opportunities.

Church Development Demonstrate a heart for community outreach and service. Come alongside the congregation in ministry to the church and the community. Seek to be discipled and to disciple others, leading by example in spiritual growth and relationships.

Administration and Operations Lead and support church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers by directing, equipping, and encouraging them in all areas of church operations and ministries. Oversee ministry assignments of staff serving Christ First Covina. Maintain an onsite presence with office hours. Adhere to the Guiding Principles and Bylaws of Christ First Covina. Maintain healthy governance, stewardship, and long-term sustainability.

Evaluation and Accountability Serve as the primary source of information to the Board of Elders. Provide regular reports regarding ministry activities and church health. Participate in an annual pastoral review conducted by the Board of Elders.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications for the elder position are found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Please review this scripture when prayerfully consider applying to serve the church in this critical role.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 5 years of experience as Church Leadership Staff / Ministry Role in a church with more than 100 people in attendance A degree in a relevant ministry subject from an accredited Christian college

Other Areas of Qualifications Strong commitment to Bible-centered teaching Proven long-term service in a congregational setting Strength in teaching, discipleship, and spiritual formation Strong relational skills and pastoral temperament Familiarity with congregational church culture

COMPENSATION $65,000 – $85,000 annually. This is all inclusive.
