Description Summary The Mortgage Processing Specialist is essential in guiding clients through the loan origination to closing journey. This role involves meticulous gathering and reviewing of documentation to ensure compliance with all relevant product and program guidelines. The Client Advocate is dedicated to fostering clear communication through various channels to meet the needs of all stakeholders. Responsibilities: Perform administrative tasks, preparing and reviewing applications for residential mortgage loans. Ensure the completeness and accuracy of loan applications. Conduct thorough reviews and follow up on any outstanding documentation from borrowers. Request and assess information from third parties such as credit agencies, AUS, and verification of employment. Maintain a strong knowledge of FNMA and Freddie Mac guidelines. Prepare files for underwriting by aligning all documentation with findings from the MLO and satisfying investor requirements. Monitor and address any underwriting conditions post-initial loan decision and resubmit files for final approval. Engage in open communication with Residential Loan Officers, applicants, and other stakeholders, ensuring positive customer relations and seamless processing of real estate closings. Efficiently handle customer inquiries with responsibility. Manage detailed tasks effectively under pressure and resolve complex issues smoothly. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Mortgage Operations Manager. Qualifications To excel in this position, candidates must meet the outlined essential duties. Education and Experience A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, along with knowledge equivalent to two years of college education. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of administrative experience in government loan processing and one year in conventional loan processing. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Strong writing abilities for correspondence and effective presentation of information in individual and small group settings to customers and colleagues. Mathematical Skills Competence in basic arithmetic operations, including working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Proficient in calculating rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpreting bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense to execute detailed but straightforward instructions. Skill in resolving problems involving a small number of concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills A successful candidate will have knowledge of word processing software and familiarity with computers to effectively utilize the Bank's systems for inputting and accessing loan data and generating processing documents accurately and efficiently. Other Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of current underwriting guidelines for conventional and government loans. Proficiency in managing standard loan documents. Excellent analytical skills for evaluating real estate contracts, financial statements, appraisals, tax returns, and credit reports.
