Key Responsibilities
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other technical documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
Calculate material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs for manufacturing projects.
Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to gather comprehensive data for estimates.
Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services.
Prepare and submit detailed, competitive cost proposals and bids to customers.
Identify potential risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures during the estimating process.
Maintain and update a database of cost information, supplier pricing, and historical data.
Recommended Qualifications
Proven experience in cost estimating within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and associated labor/overhead costs.
Advanced proficiency with estimating software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for detailed cost analysis.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency with specialized estimating software (e.g., Costimator, Sage Estimating) or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor).
Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for advanced blueprint interpretation and material take-offs.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Value Engineering, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Background in supply chain management or strong vendor negotiation skills.
