General Purpose The HR Specialist will play a key role in supporting a wide range of various aspects of HR to ensure the company’s cultural and organizational goals are met. Train all new hires on the basic job responsibilities, policies, and procedures. This person will assist with maintaining employee records, recruiting, onboarding, and helping ensure the smooth operation of the HR department.

General Responsibilities

Assisting with recruitment and new hire activities as well as processing on and off boarding paperwork and related activities such as interviews and end of employment documentation.

Process and assist team members through leave of absences including FMLA leave.

Documentation of OSHA and worker’s compensation program including managing injuries and the claims filing process.

Support investigations by reviewing camera system and sharing video footage.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Responsible for assisting employees register for company offered benefits.

Supports internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department such as basic benefits related questions, unemployment, and work verifications.

Assist in weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual HR communication and projects (ie: Newsletters, service awards, birthday cards, holiday events, etc.)

Compiling and maintaining paper, digital and electronic employee records.

Handles employment related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to appropriate staff.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Updating company databases by inputting new employee contact information and employment details.

Screening potential hourly production employees' resumes/application to identify suitable candidates to fill vacancies.

Conducting Interviews and Pre-hire screenings as applicable.

Launching and completing onboarding process via the applicant tracking system.

Assisting in coordinating new hire orientations.

Onboarding employees.

Employment Verifications.

File paperwork.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelors degree in business preferred, but 3+ years of HR experience considered.

SHRM certification preferred but specific experience will be considered.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.

An effective communicator. You clearly and successfully deliver information to the appropriate party in a timely manner. You listen and ask good questions to understand, not to react, and effectively read nonverbal communication cues and body language.
