Department Overview The
Department of Personnel & Administration (DPA)
provides a range of services across the state, supporting agencies in custodial, maintenance, financial, and human resources functions. IDS (Integrated Document Solutions) is the full‑service document management operation within DPA, offering design, printing, and branding services to state agencies.
Job Summary The Art Professional II independently performs professional graphic design work, exercising creativity and sound judgment while adhering to organizational standards, state regulations, and program goals.
Responsibilities
Manages pre‑press production and executes a range of design projects, including brochures, annual reports, large‑format materials, tradeshow displays, digital assets, infographics, and video content.
Designs and produces visual communication materials using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop) on a Mac workstation within a cross‑platform environment.
Creates professional design tasks, applying discretion and creativity in accordance with professional standards, program objectives, and state regulations.
Follows brand guidelines and ensures all digital work meets or exceeds WCAG 2.2 accessibility criteria.
Makes process‑level decisions within established guidelines.
Applies industry standards to complex assignments, anticipating impacts.
Serves as a subject‑matter resource and collaborates with internal IDS stakeholders to ensure project success.
Provides exceptional customer service, guiding clients through the design process and delivering tailored solutions.
Identifies and implements process enhancements to improve efficiency and workflow.
Technical Requirements
Experience reviewing client‑provided files for print readiness, flagging and resolving print issues, and coordinating with production to achieve a smooth printing process.
Maintains records, job logs, and backups of projects utilizing established unit systems.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
At least four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position, OR
A combination of related education and/or experience equaling at least four (4) years.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous state service related to the work assigned.
BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts or Graphic Design).
High proficiency in creating and producing files for print and digital media.
Experience in video creation and editing.
Creative portfolio showcasing broad experience.
Accessibility skills and knowledge.
Customer service experience.
Ability to guide a customer through the design process skillfully.
Travel
Travel within the State for meetings and conferences.
