About the Department Department of Personnel & Administration (DPA) supports state agencies with services across custodial, maintenance, finance, HR, and more. DPA provides opportunities for meaningful work that supports and serves the people of Colorado.

Job Overview The position is a full‑time hybrid role within Integrated Document Solutions (IDS), the Colorado State Printer and Branding Office. The Art Professional II will perform professional graphic design work, leading pre‑press production and creating visual communication materials across print, digital, and large‑format media.

Responsibilities

Manage pre‑press production and execute a diverse range of design projects, including brochures, annual reports, large‑format materials, tradeshow displays, digital assets, infographics, and video content.

Design and produce visual communication materials using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop) on a Mac within a cross‑platform environment.

Create professional graphic design tasks, ensuring alignment with organizational standards, state regulations, and program goals.

Follow brand guidelines and maintain accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.2). All digital work must meet or exceed these requirements.

Make process‑level decisions within established guidelines and apply industry standards to complex assignments.

Serve as a subject‑matter resource and collaborate with IDS stakeholders to ensure project success.

Deliver tailored solutions, guide customers through the design process, and provide exceptional customer service.

Identify process enhancements and leverage advanced technologies to streamline workflows and optimize production outcomes.

Review client‑provided files, prepare them for print, flag and resolve printing issues, and coordinate with the Production team.

Maintain records, job logs, and backup files using the unit’s system of forms and files.

Coordinate with clients regarding product, budget, deadline, and brand compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

At least four (4) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned.

OR a combination of related education and experience totaling at least four (4) years.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous state service related to the work assigned.

BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts or Graphic Design).

High proficiency in the creation and production of files for print and digital media.

Experience in video creation and editing.

Creative portfolio showcasing broad experience.

Accessibility skills and knowledge.

Customer service experience.

Ability to guide a customer through the design process skillfully.

Conditions of Employment

Pre‑employment criminal background check.

Travel within the state for meetings and conferences.
