Position Overview:

At The Home Depot, user experience (UX) is integral to our mission. We are expanding our dynamic UX team to pioneer new initiatives that enhance customer interactions. As part of this team, you will collaborate with strategists, designers, and researchers to create impactful end-to-end experiences while identifying and addressing customer needs.

You take a hands-on approach to understanding user needs, adopt research best practices, and employ iterative evaluation techniques to refine your work.

Emphasizing collaboration, you welcome feedback and engage with fellow researchers, designers, engineers, and product managers. You are comfortable advocating for customer needs, influencing business leaders, and guiding your peers towards delivering exceptional user experiences. With excellent communication skills, you will share insights that foster informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 15% - Coaching and Mentoring: Conduct interviews, assess cultural and team fit for candidates, and assist UX leadership in aligning resources to product needs based on skills and cultural compatibility. Mentor junior team members in UX practices and support career development.

  • 45% - Delivery & Execution: Create UX design artifacts and test usability for assigned products. Lead data collection and analysis while overseeing delivery, including that of other designers.

  • 40% - Planning and Strategy: Communicate the value of UX across experiences. Adapt to changing needs and drive improvements that align with user requirements and organizational objectives. Collaborate with product management, development teams, and business stakeholders to ensure cohesive experiences across multiple products. Articulate a clear vision grounded in user research and align collaborative solutions.

Management Structure:

  • This position typically reports to the User Experience Manager.

  • No direct reports are associated with this role.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expect 5% to 20% overnight travel.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role primarily involves sitting comfortably, with frequent opportunities for movement. Occasional light lifting may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work takes place indoors in a comfortable environment with infrequent, non-objectionable conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7-9 years of UX experience in enterprise or retail environments, or a related degree.

  • 7-9 years of experience in agile software development teams.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven track record of managing complex projects proactively.

  • Experience in synthesizing multiple efforts into a cohesive user experience.

  • Focus on consistency and quality in design work.

  • Ability to teach, lead, and mentor junior team members.

  • Support the implementation of standards and templates, including Brand Standards.

  • Provide backup and mentorship to the Manager as needed.

  • Coordinate across diverse teams to assist designers.

  • Execute hands-on deliverables throughout the Product Development lifecycle.

  • Be available to attend team ceremonies as a backup for UXD/SUXD and Manager.

Minimum Education:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent in a related field of study.

Preferred Education:
