Deputy Court Clerk
The City of Bloomfield is seeking a detail-oriented and professional Deputy Court Clerk to support the Municipal Court. This position works closely with the Court Administrator and Municipal Court Judge and plays a vital role in ensuring court operations run smoothly and efficiently while providing excellent service to the public. Key Responsibilities
Serve as a primary point of contact for the public by answering phones, responding to inquiries, and providing information on court procedures and schedules Perform clerical and administrative duties including typing correspondence, processing mail, and maintaining records Receive, enter, and file citations, criminal complaints, and court documents; assign case numbers and maintain accurate case files Schedule hearings, arraignments, trials, and other court proceedings; prepare notices, subpoenas, and related documentation Monitor and process payments, fines, fees, and bonds; post transactions and prepare daily deposits Assist the Judge during court proceedings, including preparing judgments and sentencing documents Coordinate with law enforcement, attorneys, detention centers, and other agencies Complete required state court training and stay current on changes to laws, codes, and court procedures Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of related clerical, court, administrative, or customer service experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute Strong computer skills and experience with record-keeping systems Ability to work under deadlines, follow complex instructions, and handle sensitive or stressful situations professionally Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Special Requirements
Must be bondable and eligible to serve as a notary Must successfully complete required State Court Clerk training and annual continuing education Spanish bilingual skills strongly preferred Work Environment
