Basic Job Functions Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US, Inc. manufactures and distributes engineered fasteners under the SPAX® brand for the construction market, TRUFAST® for the commercial roofing industry and TRUFAST Walls® for exterior building envelopes and facades.

The Packaging Manager is responsible for the operational leadership and performance of the packaging department at the Pioneer manufacturing facility. This role ensures finished products are packaged efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with customer requirements while supporting overall production flow and delivery performance.

The Packaging Manager leads the department to deliver results in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity. This role drives operational excellence through workforce development, process improvement, equipment reliability, and cross-functional coordination across the broader organization and teams.

Essential Responsibilities Safety & Culture

Drive a zero-incident safety culture through proactive leadership, training, and accountability

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and ISO standards

Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementations

Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

Departmental Leadership

Lead and align all production shifts to operate as one cohesive, high-performing organization with consistent standards and expectations

Develop shift leaders into strong, accountable leaders who effectively manage safety, quality, cost, delivery

Establish structured performance management cadence including daily production review, weekly KPI analysis, and monthly performance evaluation

Ensure consistent standards, communication, and execution across all operational areas and shifts

Drive workforce stability through effective staffing, cross-training, and succession planning

Operational Performance

Develop and meet or exceed department KPIs for safety, quality, cost and delivery

Partner with Safety, Quality, Operational Engineering, and Maintenance to identify and eliminate wastes

Lead structured daily and weekly performance reviews to analyze trends and drive corrective actions

Ensure standardized work, process discipline, and documentation accuracy across all shifts

Equipment Reliability & Process Control

Partner with Maintenance to improve equipment uptime and reduce unplanned downtime

Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance programs are executed effectively

Lead root cause analysis for equipment, process or quality deviations

Support capital improvement planning and continuous process enhancements

Quality and Engineering Collaboration

Support new product introduction and prototype validation through structured PPAP/Engineering processes

Ensure required testing and documentation are completed per quality standards

Drive corrective actions for process or product nonconformance

Financial & Resource Management

Manage departmental labor and operating costs within established budgets

Monitor scrap, rework, overtime trends and all other process inputs to identify cost reduction opportunities

Optimize resource allocation across shifts to support production requirements

Talent Development & Supervision

Manage shift leaders and department personnel through clear expectations and performance accountability

Conduct regular performance evaluations and development planning

Build cross-training capability to strengthen flexibility and reduce operational risk

Develop succession readiness within the department

Reporting Relationships Reports to VP of Operations and has direct management over Packaging personnel.

Position Requirements Experience:

7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience required, including multi-shift operational responsibility. Experience managing production or packaging operations preferred.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and leadership experience considered.

Required Skills/Competencies:

Demonstrate strong safety leadership in a manufacturing environment

Ability to lead and develop team members and build team bench strength

Strong business and financial acumen with understanding of cost drivers and productivity metrics

Experience managing multi-shift operations with consistent standards

Data-driven decision making and structured problem-solving capability

Strong change leadership and continuous improvement mindset

Ability to drive accountability while fostering engagement

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

Working knowledge of ISO standards and quality systems

Ability to interpret technical specifications and manufacturing requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Applications and ERP systems (SAP preferred)

Travel:

Occasional travel is required for meeting in Bryan, with vendors, and suppliers as needed.

Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 50 pounds.
