
Lead Clerk - Beer, Wine, and Spirits

As a Lead Clerk in the Beer, Wine, and Spirits department, you will play a vital role in establishing a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Your efforts will contribute to achieving sales and profit goals while maintaining quality assurance standards. You will direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities in the department while embracing our Customer 1st strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote trust and respect among associates.
Effectively communicate company and department updates to associates.
Set performance goals for the team and empower associates to achieve targets.
Manage scheduling to handle customer volume efficiently.
Train and develop associates, participating in the performance appraisal process.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws as well as company guidelines.
Foster a welcoming environment for customers, addressing inquiries about products.
Provide product samples to enhance customer experience and discover new items.
Educate customers on Beer, Wine, and Spirits specials.
Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions.
Design and implement a business plan to achieve department goals.
Create sales promotions in coordination with store management.
Inform and educate associates about current and upcoming promotions.
Prepare seasonal critiques for review by the sales and merchandising supervisor.
Execute promotional plans efficiently within the department.
Collaborate with store management to prepare budgets and review financial reports.
Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, addressing discrepancies.
Update shelf tags and promotional signs for pricing changes.
Train associates on inventory management and ordering processes.
Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cooling units and keep temperature logs.
Uphold safety programs by adhering to safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age.
Strong communication skills.
Basic math competency (counting, addition, subtraction).
Able to handle stressful situations.
Preferred: High school education or equivalent.
Preferred: Management experience and knowledge in Beer/Wine/Liquor.
Familiarity with industry terms and processes.
Retail experience preferred.
Knowledge of various beer and wine flavor profiles and production methods.
Awareness of current trends in specialty wines and beers.
Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
Compensation: $26.61 per hour.
