
Lead Clerk - Beer, Wine, and Spirits

Join our team and create an exceptional customer experience through outstanding service! We are looking for a dedicated Lead Clerk for our Beer, Wine, and Spirits department. In this role, you will establish a safe and clean shopping environment that encourages customer loyalty while achieving sales and profit goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote trust and respect among team members.
Communicate key information related to the company and department effectively.
Set performance goals for the department and empower associates to exceed them.
Develop scheduling to efficiently manage customer volume.
Train and mentor associates to enhance their job performance and participate in appraisals.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, along with company policies.
Create a welcoming and appreciative atmosphere for customers by assisting them with inquiries about our product selections.
Conduct product sampling to help customers discover new options.
Keep customers informed about current Beer/Wine/Spirits specials.
Maintain a positive attitude and foster the same among staff.
Design and implement a business plan to achieve departmental goals.
Collaborate with management on sales promotions.
Keep team members updated on in-store promotions affecting the Beer/Wine/Spirits selection.
Submit seasonal critiques for assessment by the sales and merchandising supervisors.
Implement promotional strategies for the department.
Assist in budget preparation and analyze profit and loss reports, taking necessary actions based on findings.
Maintain awareness of inventory and address any discrepancies.
Manage pricing changes and update shelf tags accordingly.
Train team members on inventory management and Computer Assisted Ordering.
Ensure proper temperature maintenance in both cases and coolers, keeping detailed logs.
Support safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and reporting them.
Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Effective communication skills are essential.
Knowledge of basic math is required.
Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
Desired Skills:
High school education or equivalent preferred.
Previous management experience is a plus.
Familiarity with Beer/Wine/Liquor industry.
Understanding of industry terms and processes.
Retail experience is advantageous.
Knowledge of imported and domestic beverages, including flavor profiles and production methods.
Awareness of trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to customer preferences.
Proficiency in a second language is a bonus.
