Customer Service Representative (Contract-to-Hire)
Join a family-owned, growth-minded company as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) serving the construction, rental, and industrial supplies market in Northwest Indiana. This is a contract-to-hire role based at the Valparaiso Branch with a fast, hands-on showroom environment and steady customer traffic. You will help customers with products, parts, rentals, and service while owning orders from quote to delivery. Candidates with customer-facing experience in equipment, parts, or industrial environments do especially well here. If you like solving problems, switching gears quickly, and being the friendly face customers count on, we would love to meet you. Responsibilities: Welcome walk-in customers and support showroom product needs Advise on parts, rentals, tools, and supplies across a large SKU catalog Enter quotes, sales orders, and purchase orders in the ERP Manage orders end to end including status updates, inbound tracking, delivery coordination with warehouse and drivers Answer 1015 customer calls daily and handle inter-Branch inventory and transfer requests Pitch in with light warehouse support as needed including lifting, loading, and pulling product Collaborate with service and rental teams to route requests and resolve issues Qualifications: 1+ year of customer-facing experience in retail, counter sales, rentals, parts, or industrial supply Comfortable in a fast-paced, physical setting with frequent customer interaction Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs with assistance; reasonable accommodations available Proficient with basic computer tools and ERP or point-of-sale systems; quick to learn new platforms Reliable, punctual, and adaptable with strong phone etiquette and follow-through High school diploma or equivalent; equipment rental or construction supply background is a plus Company Overview: Our client is a privately held, people-first organization with over five decades of steady growth.
